Description

We’re seeking two volunteers to assist with SAE’s A World In Motion® (AWIM®) program in collaboration with the UW-Science Initiative (UW-SI) Roadshow at Farson Eden’s STEM Day for K-12 Students.

Volunteers will play a key role in engaging students in the AWIM program, leading hands-on STEM activities, and serving as a mentor. Your tasks will include explaining instructions and concepts to students and providing guidance and support throughout the activities. Attached are documents detailing examples of some the activities students will be participating in:

- Computerized Driver

- Straw Rockets

- Helicopter

Volunteers will travel with UW-SI team/SAE staff. Hotel, meals, and travel expenses are covered. Training will also be provided for volunteers and UW-SI can provide an excuse from classes if needed. Below is the itinerary of the opportunity:

AWIM is an inquiry-based, hands-on learning experience that brings STEM concepts to life, providing students with knowledge and skills to help them succeed in future education, careers, and life. Starting with the youngest learners, from preschool through 12th grade, AWIM combines practical, experiential learning with mentorship from industry volunteers and ongoing training and support for educators to advance equitable access to STEM.
