Who We Are
The World Language and Culture Program (WLCP)/Access the World with World Languages and Cultures at the University of Wyoming and Wyoming is a volunteer and service-learning program that offers free world language and culture classes for UW’s staff, students, faculty, and Wyoming community.
The WLCP provides opportunities to develop cross-cultural understandings, service learning and teaching, volunteerism, internationalization, and language and culture exposure. The program allows native speakers of world languages to foster and build dialogue and share their cultures and languages.
Due to Covid restrictions and regulations, the WLCP will start offering most classes virtually (via Zoom). We hope that way to include and serve the state of Wyoming.
What We Do
Access the World with World Languages and Cultures (AWWLC) promotes linguistic and cultural literacy while cultivating a life-long appreciation and enthusiasm for the world languages and the cultures they reflect. AWWLC views language and culture as being inseparable and strives to integrate the learning of both simultaneously. AWWLC’s mission is to serve learners who want to enrich themselves through the learning of world languages and cultures (including critical and less-commonly-taught languages) in a nonformal setting. The AWWLC works to overcome barriers between people through cross-cultural communication and the breaking of stereotypes.
