Hospice House and Community Volunteers assist nursing staff with comfort and companionship of Hospice of Laramie Patients. Can include playing a card game, talking about their families or experiences, helping with light cleaning tasks, or helping give a caretaker a short break to run to the store or an appointment. 

Please Note: A background check, drug test, and initial online training are required. 

Winters in Laramie can mean cold weather, that famous Wyoming wind, and heaps of snow. Many citizens of Laramie struggle to maintain their driveways and sidewalks during this time of the year and could use a helping hand. If you want to help keep our citizens safe and help those who may not be able to shovel snow themselves, this opportunity is for you!

Winter weather can be unpredictable, and unfortunately there is no set schedule for snow. This opportunity will be a flexible opportunity, with locations needing snow shoveling being updated as requests come in. If you would like to participate in this volunteer opportunity, please respond to this opportunity and the City will reach out to work out where you can provide your valuable time and effort to help those in need. 

The City of Laramie has a limited supply of snow shovels that can be loaned to volunteers during the Winter months.

Join us for a fun bike parade in Laramie Wyoming.  We need 4 Crossing Guards to help the crew get across 2 busy streets that don't have lights. 

At SAFE Project we have internship opportunities for Fall, Spring and Summer! To be an intern at SAFE you would need to go through our state-mandated 40 hour training. 

Our interns work closely with our Volunteer Coordinator to make a schedule and an outline of things they wish to learn during their semester. Internships can be done for school credit or for work experience.

Our biggest need is for volunteers willing to work our 24-hour hotline. We ask our advocates to take two 12-hour hotline shifts each month. Hotline advocates are able to do normal day to day activities with only an extra cell phone to carry and respond to. Calls may be anything from crisis intervention, to hospital advocacy, to shelter clients asking questions. 

All volunteers must complete a state-mandated 40 hour training. Training provides information needed to assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and child abuse. Training is offered in Spring, Summer and Fall each year.

That's less than 5 years away, and that's why we need your help in transforming STEM education across the state of Wyoming. 

Research proves that early access to STEM education can boost confidence, increase achievement, and ignite potential. STEM programming that is designed to help students build STEM proficiency and gain skills necessary to succeed in the innovation-focused twenty-first century job market is essential. Opt-in programs and those that start in secondary school often only capture those students who have already identified an interest in STEM subjects, thereby excluding many marginalized “at promise” populations, including women and minorities.

Valued for its ability to bring inspiration, accessibility, and equity to STEM education, the SAE International A World In Motion® (AWIM®) program is highly regarded for its unrivaled efforts to increase teacher/volunteer confidence and competence to facilitate STEM learning. Through fun, hands-on activities, AWIM heightens STEM interest and understanding while also preparing students for real-world scenarios. As a new AmeriCorps program through funding from Serve Wyoming, SAE needs members like you to help shape the engineers of the future.

Through the SAE A World In Motion (AWIM) AmeriCorps Wyoming program, service members have the power to make a difference and change the lives of PreK-12 students throughout Wyoming communities. This unique service opportunity expands vital access to STEM education for young learners to help them discover their full potential and succeed.

Service members will receive a living allowance and are also eligible to earn the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

Upcoming service cohorts will work with school and community-based organization site partners in Albany, Laramie, and Natrona counties.

Terms and Applications Process

Three-quarter time terms are ideal, half and quarter time terms considered to support winter, spring, summer programs with our site partners.

On the first Saturday of every month, the Wyoming State Museum hosts Family Days, a completely free event series that welcomes families to experience the museum and engage with a variety of fun topics including:

While each month's theme is different, every event offers crafts, activities, and games that inspire children to get creative and learn about the world around them.

Volunteers in this role will get to interact with hundreds of families, facilitating crafts and helping guests get the most out of their experience. Your shift will begin with a brief training on how you'll facilitate the activity or game that you are in charge of, then museum staff will check in with you regularly throughout the event to be sure you have everything you need.

Each event consists of one 5 hour shift from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. If that shift does not work for you, we are happy to accommodate with a half shift, just let us know! Any individual who is passionate about childhood education, families, crafts, and FUN should feel encouraged to volunteer. We welcome and appreciate people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities!

A lunch break (and food) is provided for volunteers who work the entire 5-hour shift. The Laramie Soup Kitchen has volunteer opportunities available for students!

Volunteers are an integral part of our operation. They help staff in the kitchen with food preparation, serving, and keeping the space clean and safe for our guests. 

Volunteer hours at the Laramie Soup Kitchen can be used for Community Service, School Requirements, Scholarships, or just because. 

Opportunities available Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. With shifts as short as 1 hour and on average 1.5 hours, we can help accommodate your busy schedule. 

Once you have submitted a volunteer application, it will be reviewed (give us two to three business days), and when approved, you will receive a link to begin signing up for shifts.

To ensure the safety of our guests and staff, and to ensure your volunteer experience is the best it can be, volunteers will be required to sign up for shifts (no walk-in volunteers).
