J & J Second Chance Small Holdings & The Goat Ladies is a non-profit rescue in Rock River, WY. We care for more than 250 goats, along with donkeys, ponies, mini cattle, dogs, cats, and birds. Our mission goes beyond rescue — we bring animals and people together through education, events, and outreach.

Volunteer Opportunity:
We’re inviting University of Wyoming students to join us as Community Outreach Volunteers. This role is perfect for students interested in communication, education, marketing, or nonprofit leadership. You’ll help us:

Assist with tabling at events to share our mission

Promote programs like goat therapy, tours, and reading with goats

Help with social media content (photos, stories, short videos)

Work on fundraising projects and donor thank-yous

Looking for a regular, weekly commitment with the Eppson Center? Want to get involved and help seniors, but have a busy life of your own? This is the opportunity for you! Loan Closet attendants are needed from 12-4pm Monday-Friday, with shifts lasting one hour, though you may sign up for as many as you'd like! Our Loan Closet is stocked with essential medical equipment like wheelchairs, canes, walkers, knee scooters, and more, that we loan out to seniors and community members in need. This is a rewarding, social volunteer opportunity, and the best part is that it comes with some down time! Feel free to bring a book or some homework to work on in between helping visitors. 

This is a great opportunity to get to know patrons and do some meaningful work for them. Everyday, we serve dozens of seniors lunch, and this opportunity would give you the chance to brighten their day. 

Hospice of Laramie is looking for volunteers with their physical therapy license to assist with patients who have physical therapy needs. 

We are in need of volunteers to help our Home Delivered Meals coordinator prepare and seal meals to be sent off to our home-bound patrons. This could be a one-time or recurring opportunity depending on flexibility. 

We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in sitting at the front desk as-needed when our receptionist is out!

The Eppson Center has a medical equipment Loan Closet that is open for use by any individual in the community in need of a wheelchair, walker, cane, knee scooter, and more. These items come in and out of the Center on a daily basis, and thus get disorganized over time. This volunteer opportunity would allow flexible scheduling and independence to come in, sort through items, and get everything put away neatly. We are looking for multiple volunteers to come in when and for as long that their schedule allows.

Non-Patient Volunteers can help Hospice of Laramie with grounds keeping, cleaning tasks, event prep, etc. These volunteers would not be interacting with patients, instead helping out the house in other ways. 

Hospice House and Community Volunteers assist nursing staff with comfort and companionship of Hospice of Laramie Patients. Can include playing a card game, talking about their families or experiences, helping with light cleaning tasks, or helping give a caretaker a short break to run to the store or an appointment. 

Please Note: A background check, drug test, and initial online training are required. 

Winters in Laramie can mean cold weather, that famous Wyoming wind, and heaps of snow. Many citizens of Laramie struggle to maintain their driveways and sidewalks during this time of the year and could use a helping hand. If you want to help keep our citizens safe and help those who may not be able to shovel snow themselves, this opportunity is for you!

Winter weather can be unpredictable, and unfortunately there is no set schedule for snow. This opportunity will be a flexible opportunity, with locations needing snow shoveling being updated as requests come in. If you would like to participate in this volunteer opportunity, please respond to this opportunity and the City will reach out to work out where you can provide your valuable time and effort to help those in need. 

The City of Laramie has a limited supply of snow shovels that can be loaned to volunteers during the Winter months.

Join us for a fun bike parade in Laramie Wyoming.  We need 4 Crossing Guards to help the crew get across 2 busy streets that don't have lights. 

At SAFE Project we have internship opportunities for Fall, Spring and Summer! To be an intern at SAFE you would need to go through our state-mandated 40 hour training. 

Our interns work closely with our Volunteer Coordinator to make a schedule and an outline of things they wish to learn during their semester. Internships can be done for school credit or for work experience.

Our biggest need is for volunteers willing to work our 24-hour hotline. We ask our advocates to take two 12-hour hotline shifts each month. Hotline advocates are able to do normal day to day activities with only an extra cell phone to carry and respond to. Calls may be anything from crisis intervention, to hospital advocacy, to shelter clients asking questions. 

All volunteers must complete a state-mandated 40 hour training. Training provides information needed to assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and child abuse. Training is offered in Spring, Summer and Fall each year.

Opt-in programs and those that start in secondary school often only capture those students who have already identified an interest in STEM subjects, thereby excluding many marginalized “at promise” populations, including women and minorities.

On the first Saturday of every month, the Wyoming State Museum hosts Family Days, a completely free event series that welcomes families to experience the museum and engage with a variety of fun topics including:

While each month's theme is different, every event offers crafts, activities, and games that inspire children to get creative and learn about the world around them.

Volunteers in this role will get to interact with hundreds of families, facilitating crafts and helping guests get the most out of their experience. Your shift will begin with a brief training on how you'll facilitate the activity or game that you are in charge of, then museum staff will check in with you regularly throughout the event to be sure you have everything you need.

Each event consists of one 5 hour shift from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. If that shift does not work for you, we are happy to accommodate with a half shift, just let us know! Any individual who is passionate about childhood education, families, crafts, and FUN should feel encouraged to volunteer. We welcome and appreciate people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities!

Benefits:

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to develop teaching skills and help the families in our community become more connected with the museum and its exciting resources. A lunch break (and food) is provided for volunteers who work the entire 5-hour shift.
